Located 350 meters from the Grishko National Botanical Garden, the construction of a modern 24-storey residential complex has commenced. According to open sources, the work is being carried out on a site where a park for city residents was previously planned.
Project Details and Developers
The OZON Concept House residential complex is being built by the developer division of BGV Group Management in collaboration with Saga Development. The latter company is owned by Andriy Vavrysh, who previously held the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Urban Development and Architecture of the Kyiv City State Administration. Saga Development has repeatedly found itself at the center of scandals due to controversial urban projects.
“His company considers the new residential complex a symbol of ‘faith in the development of the capital.’ However, residents of the capital have repeatedly protested against the construction of the site, which is part of the protected area of the Dnipro Valley, demanding the creation of a park for recreation in its place.”
Community Opposition and Government Decisions
The community has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the development of the area, demanding that the site be transformed into a green zone. This area is part of the protected zone of the Dnipro Valley, where strict construction restrictions apply. Despite the active resistance from local residents, the city authorities had previously planned to establish a park; however, the developers challenged this decision in court and succeeded in changing the designation of the site. Subsequently, the Kyiv City Council renewed the lease agreement for one of the plots for the implementation of the new residential complex, which sparked another wave of outrage among Kyiv residents.
It is worth noting that precise information about what exactly is being constructed near the botanical garden and how this territory came into the possession of the developers continues to generate public interest and remains a topic of discussion among the capital’s residents.
