Overpass Reconstruction: What Will Change

The city is preparing for a large-scale reconstruction of the automobile and tram overpass in the Shevchenkivskyi district, located near the ‘Beresteyska’ metro station. This initiative is led by the municipal corporation ‘Kyivavtodor’, which has already announced a tender for the development of project documentation for this facility.

“The municipal corporation ‘Kyivavtodor’ has announced a tender for the development of project documentation for the reconstruction of the automobile and tram overpasses near the ‘Beresteyska’ metro station in the Shevchenkivskyi district,” the statement reads.

According to the plans, the reconstruction includes the construction of new supports, beams for the superstructure, as well as the installation of a modern bridge deck with an updated road surface and waterproofing. Additionally, during the works, it is planned to completely replace the pavement and connections with the overpass, significantly enhancing comfort for pedestrians.

Modern Solutions for Urban Transport

Particular attention will be paid to modernizing the external lighting system: energy-efficient LED lights will be installed on the overpass. The project also includes a complete overhaul of the tram tracks, which will help reduce noise levels from public transport. A distinctive feature of the upcoming reconstruction will be the installation of bike lanes, promoting the development of eco-friendly transport in the city.

In ‘Kyivavtodor’, it is noted that the overpass was built back in 1960 and has not undergone major repairs since then. Its structures no longer meet modern requirements for load and safety.

The developer of the project documentation will be determined based on the results of the open tender, with proposal submissions continuing until August 22, 2025.
