The court in the capital has made a decision on the largest special confiscation of funds in history

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has ruled to seize a record amount of 2.6 billion UAH from the online casino “PIN-UP” for the benefit of the state budget. This has become the largest special confiscation of funds in the entire period of Ukraine’s independence.

Investigation into Financing of the Aggressor Country

During the pre-trial investigation conducted by the State Bureau of Investigations in collaboration with prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, facts were established regarding the assistance provided by representatives of the online casino to the aggressor state. It was revealed that individuals associated with the activities of “PIN-UP” were conducting business operations in the temporarily occupied territory of the so-called “LPR”, which contributed to filling the enemy’s budget.

“Moreover, the person who directly controls the activities of the online casino, after the start of the full-scale invasion, was financing veterans of the so-called ‘SVO’. The online casino itself, as the Bureau discovered during the pre-trial investigation, continues its operations on the territory of Russia and Russian web resources,” the SBI reported.

Penalties and Additional Circumstances of the Case

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, the court also approved an agreement between the prosecutor and the suspect—the director of the online casino. He was charged with five articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including conducting business activities in cooperation with the aggressor state, as well as intentional tax evasion in particularly large amounts.

According to the verdict, the accused was sentenced to five years of imprisonment with a three-year deferral of the sentence. Thus, the online casino not only lost significant funds, but its management also faced the legal consequences as stipulated by law.
