The offender faces up to 10 years in prison
In Kyiv, law enforcement quickly apprehended a resident of the Obolon district involved in the attack on an elderly man. The incident occurred on Heroes of the Azov Regiment Street, where an 85-year-old pensioner was robbed after receiving his pension.
Circumstances of the Crime
Investigators established that the pensioner had just received money at the post office and was heading home. On the street, he was unexpectedly attacked from behind by an unknown assailant, who snatched a bag containing documents and money, and then quickly fled the scene.
“As it turned out, that day the 85-year-old pensioner, having just received his pension at the post office, was on his way home. On the way, he was attacked from behind by the offender, who grabbed the bag containing documents and over 11 thousand hryvnias of pension, after which he fled in an unknown direction,” the report states.
Investigation and Arrest
Thanks to surveillance cameras, law enforcement quickly identified the suspect. He turned out to be a 41-year-old unemployed local resident. During the arrest, evidence was seized that confirms his involvement in the crime.
The man has already been charged under part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed under martial law. According to the sanctions of this article, the suspect faces up to 10 years of imprisonment.
During the pre-trial investigation, the man will remain in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
