Fox Terrier Greta Helped Stop Smuggling
At the Kyiv customs, a service dog of the fox terrier breed named Greta helped uncover an attempt to illegally import cannabis into Ukraine. During the inspection of international postal shipments, the canine team, consisting of Petro and his four-legged partner, noticed one of the packages that had arrived from Thailand addressed to a resident of Kyiv.
“Fox terrier Greta is small but uncompromising when it comes to drugs. During the customs control of international postal shipments, the canine team of Kyiv customs, made up of Petro and his four-legged partner Greta, stopped an attempt to import cannabis into Ukraine. The dog reacted to one of the packages that arrived from Thailand addressed to a Kyiv resident,” the statement said.
Cannabis was disguised as personal protective equipment
According to the customs officers’ report, the customs declaration for the shipment was indicated as “personal protective equipment.” However, during the inspection of the package’s contents, the service dog detected the concealed drug.
After a detailed examination, it was determined that the total weight of the seized cannabis amounted to 1.17 kilograms. The seized drugs have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
