Damage Assessment and Recovery Organization

This week, the Institute of Cardiology is conducting an assessment of the damage caused by the nighttime Russian shelling. According to a statement by the president of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Vasyl Lazoryshynets, specialists have already developed an action plan to navigate this challenging situation. It is expected that by the end of the week, the full scope of recovery work necessary for the medical facility to operate effectively will be determined.

“This morning, together with the Minister of Health, we held a working meeting and developed an algorithm for how to address this situation and what actions to take. By the end of the week, we need to complete the assessment to know the extent of the recovery work that needs to be done,” said Vasyl Lazoryshynets.

Repair Work and Evacuation

Currently, the restoration of the damaged parts of the building is being carried out by the Institute’s staff along with representatives of the Solomianskyi District State Administration. It is noted that during the nighttime attack on September 28, a patient and a nurse from the medical facility were killed.

Doctors and staff responded promptly to the emergency situation. As reported by Vasyl Lazoryshynets, about 50 patients and 22 medical workers were evacuated from the treatment building to the basement, which helped avoid injuries among them.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed that despite significant damage to the Institute’s building on the upper three floors, the facility continues to perform its functions and provide medical assistance.
