The animal’s health is improving
During the Russian attack on Kyiv, the shockwave damaged windows and structures on the territory of Kyiv Zoo. Several animals, including a spurred tortoise and a caiman, sustained minor injuries that were promptly treated. However, the most affected was deer Mo, who was diagnosed with a severe head injury and a fractured lower jaw.
According to veterinarians, the miniature muntjac deer initially had only a 50-50 chance of survival. However, thanks to prompt intervention and professional care, his life was saved.
“The most critical week is already behind us. The postoperative period has gone well, and with each passing day, confidence grows that Mo will fully recover,” said Kyiv Zoo director Kyrylo Trantin.
Rehabilitation and care for deer Mo
Currently, Mo is undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of specialists. He has been prescribed a comprehensive treatment plan and a special diet – the soft diet consists of steamed grain mix, soaked alfalfa pellets, and chopped hay. The zoo emphasized that all necessary procedures are carried out regularly to ensure that the deer can fully regain its strength and health.
