Three employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine sustained bodily injuries during searches that took place the day before. As reported by NABU head Semen Kryvonos at a briefing on July 22, the affected detectives faced difficulties in documenting their injuries at medical facilities.

Obstacles to Medical Examination of NABU Detectives

Semen Kryvonos clarified that none of the three injured NABU employees were detained. However, according to him, they were unable to receive timely medical examinations and document their bodily injuries due to obstacles created in medical facilities.

“Three employees who were searched had previously sustained bodily injuries of varying severity. And yesterday, all day, they were unable to have their injuries documented. Because I know that there was relevant work being done with medical facilities to prevent the acceptance of detectives to document the extent of their injuries. This is a fact that I can tell you right now.”

According to Kryvonos, based on operational information, such efforts to prevent the detectives from being seen were conducted “at the level of one of the leaders of the Kyiv City State Administration.” He also emphasized that NABU would investigate the details of these actions within the framework of procedures defined by law.

Current Situation and Investigation of Events

In response to additional questions, the head of NABU explained that medical facilities either refused to document the bodily injuries of bureau employees or did so reluctantly. Which specific department of the Kyiv City State Administration was involved in these actions has not yet been disclosed. The Kyiv City Administration has not publicly commented on this situation so far.

It is worth noting that on July 21, it became known about the detention of a NABU employee suspected of espionage in favor of the Russian special services. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, a suspicion has already been handed to this employee. Meanwhile, NABU claims that they received information about potential risks concerning this employee back in August 2023, but the SBU did not provide evidence of his involvement at that time.

According to NABU, on July 21, employees of the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigations, and the Office of the Prosecutor General conducted about 70 searches concerning employees of the anti-corruption bureau.
