Судитимуть обвинувачених у трагедії на канатній переправі

The Pechersk District Prosecutor’s Office has submitted an indictment to the court against five individuals suspected of being involved in the death of a young man at the cable car crossing over the Dnipro River in Kyiv.

This is reported by Kyiv24

The Accused and Their Actions

The trial will include the designer of the attraction, the director of the company that won the contract to set up the crossing, an expert from a private institution who conducted the inspection of the trolley, an entrepreneur who managed the cable car since 2024, and a former technical supervision engineer from the KP “Pleso”.

It has been established that the designer of the attraction made a number of miscalculations, including the use of a cable that, by its functional designation, cannot be used for attractions. This mistake ultimately led to the cable breaking.

The director of the company approved the technical project with these deficiencies, and the expert who conducted the examination did not pay attention to the mismatch of the installed cable with its intended purpose. The entrepreneur who took over the management of the crossing was required by instructions to conduct daily inspections of the attraction and to respond promptly to any deterioration in the condition of the cable, but he failed to do so.

Legal Qualification of the Actions of the Accused

Four of them will be tried for violating safety regulations that led to the tragedy. The former engineer from KP “Pleso” is charged with official negligence that caused serious consequences, as he was supposed to oversee the safety of the facility’s operation but failed to ensure proper supervision.
