The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, commented on the dismissal of his first deputy, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, which took place on April 18. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to Havryliuk for his contributions, noting that it was thanks to his efforts that a number of challenges were overcome and stability was ensured in a crucial area of the Ministry of Defense’s activities.

According to Umerov,
“Lieutenant General Havryliuk remains part of our team. We will soon announce his new area of responsibility. We continue to work for an effective army and our shared victory.”
Earlier, the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in Parliament, Taras Melnychuk, reported that the government approved the dismissal of Ivan Havryliuk from the position of first deputy minister of defense. At the same time, other high-ranking officials were also dismissed: the first deputy minister of health, Serhiy Dubrov, and the deputy minister of health, Oleksandr Porkhun.
Ivan Havryliuk held the position of first deputy minister of defense since October 2023. Changes in the leadership of the ministry are taking place in the context of reforms and modernization of the Ukrainian army, aimed at enhancing its combat readiness and meeting modern challenges.
