The Dog Venya Returned to His Family for Christmas

In the Kyiv region, compassionate residents helped a dog that ran away from home during shelling in Kharkiv return to his owners. The dog went missing back in August, frightened by the loud noises when his area was attacked.
How the Missing Dog Was Found
Maria Hryhoryshyn, co-founder of the cultural project “Postril,” spotted the dog at a gas station in the village of Khodosivka, located in the Obukhiv district of the Kyiv region. The animal was exhausted, limping, and very cold. Maria spent five hours at the gas station trying to find help for the dog. Thanks to the support of caring individuals, they managed to arrange transportation for the animal to a veterinary clinic.
Returning Home After Several Months
During the trip to the veterinarian, the rescuers discovered that the dog had owners who had been searching for their beloved pet since August. It turned out that the dog had run away from home in the Kharkiv area, scared by the shelling, and ended up all the way in the Kyiv region, where he had been living at the gas station.
“After months of living on the streets, the dog celebrates Christmas at home on a bed,” wrote Maria Hryhoryshyn.
This story united caring individuals and proved that even after a long separation and difficult trials, animals can return to their families thanks to humanity and the support of those around them.
