New Exhibition — Dance Sketches on Cinematography

The exhibition will offer visitors a unique approach to understanding Ukrainian poetic cinema. The organizers will present the exhibition in the form of dance research sketches, pushing this artistic direction beyond traditional perception. The event considers poetic cinema not only as an aesthetic phenomenon but as a living, sensory practice that opens up possibilities for the emotional and bodily emancipation of the viewer.

Emotions, Identity, and Memory at the Heart of the Exhibition

The main idea of the exhibition is to showcase the multifaceted nature of Ukrainian poetic cinema, its impact on the formation of national identity and memory. Special attention is given to the symbolism of dance, which in this context becomes a multifaceted action, embodying experiences, historical narratives, and the yearning for freedom.

“Ukrainian poetic cinema is both a part of the cinematic canon and a multifaceted mosaic phenomenon that defies straightforward interpretations. Within its structure, dance becomes not just movement but a multifaceted action: it embodies memory and national identity, resonates with the traumas of war, emigration, and loss. At the same time, it serves as a metaphor for freedom, a means of releasing emotions, connecting with nature, and linking with forgotten ancestors,” emphasized the organizers.

The exhibition can be visited at the Dovzhenko Center located at: Vasylkivska Street, 1, Kyiv. The organizers invite everyone interested to engage in exploring the unique phenomenon of Ukrainian culture through a contemporary interpretation of poetic cinema.
