A serious accident involving a foreigner under the influence of alcohol occurred in the capital

On Beresteisky Avenue, in the Sviatoshyn district of Kyiv, a foreign driver behind the wheel of a Range Rover violated traffic rules while intoxicated and caused a large-scale road traffic accident.
Incident Details
According to law enforcement, the accident happened late at night. A 27-year-old man driving the Range Rover failed to maintain a safe distance and collided with a semi-trailer of a Renault truck that was stopped ahead in traffic. As a result of the powerful impact, the SUV lost control and crashed into three more vehicles: a Renault, a Dodge, and a DAF.
As a result of the accident, a 31-year-old female passenger in the SUV was seriously injured. The woman sustained multiple fractures and was urgently hospitalized for medical assistance.
Investigation and Accountability
“Law enforcement detained the perpetrator of the accident at the scene. A special test showed that he had 1.50 promille of alcohol in his blood.”
The police immediately detained the driver. A conducted alcohol test confirmed that the man’s blood alcohol level was 1.50 promille, significantly exceeding the legal limit. A criminal case has been opened for the violation that led to severe consequences. Under current legislation, the perpetrator of the accident faces a penalty of up to eight years in prison.
