“We continue important negotiations in Paris to achieve sustainable peace and reliable security guarantees for our state. Not all information can be made public, but concrete results are already available, and work is ongoing.”
Outcomes of the Negotiations in Paris
On January 6, negotiations of the so-called ‘Coalition of the Willing’ concluded in Paris regarding a plan to end the Russo-Ukrainian war and provide guarantees for Ukraine. The meeting included leaders from the European Union and NATO, leaders from 27 countries, as well as delegations from Turkey, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. The United States was represented by Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner.
The Paris Declaration and Next Steps
As a result of the negotiations, the Paris Declaration was released, which contains provisions for “reliable security guarantees for a strong and lasting peace in Ukraine.” The document anticipates the possibility of deploying multinational forces in Ukraine after hostilities cease, with the support of the United States.
President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that an important component of the negotiations is the presence of concrete and substantive documents, not just declarations.
As reported by the President’s Office, on January 7, delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and European countries will continue working on the details of security guarantees and the basic framework for ending the war in Paris. Budanov stressed that Ukraine’s national interests will be protected.
