Details of the Preparation and Execution of the Crime
The perpetrator involved three accomplices: a 51-year-old resident of the Kyiv region and two Kyiv residents aged 36 and 43. The meticulous preparation for the crime lasted almost a year. During this time, the group monitored the route of the vehicle used to transport large sums of cash.
In advance, the criminals made a hole in the car’s trunk and pulled out a rope, allowing them to access the money without obstruction. On the day of the crime, they blocked the doors of the currency exchange office, after which they stole a suitcase containing eight million hryvnias and 165 thousand euros from the trunk. The total amount of stolen funds amounted to nearly 15 million hryvnias in total.

Arrest of the Suspects and Court Decision
Employees of the Holosiivskyi District Police Department, together with operatives from the Criminal Investigation Department, arrested all four members of the criminal group. After conducting investigative actions, they were charged with committing theft on a particularly large scale.

“Investigators found that this group had been developing a scheme to seize money for a year and tracked the route of the vehicle. Knowing that the funds were stored in the car’s trunk for some time, the thieves had previously cut a hole in the trunk and pulled out a rope to access the currency without obstruction.”
The Holosiivskyi District Court of Kyiv chose to place all the detainees in custody. A bail of 9 million hryvnias was set for the organizer of the crime, while the other accomplices were assigned bail ranging from three to five million hryvnias.
