This Sunday, Ukrainians will celebrate Easter, and the city authorities of Kyiv are reaching out to representatives of Christian religious denominations with an important request. In order to ensure safety during the festive events, the authorities are urging to refrain from holding large-scale worship services.

The relevant appeal has been posted on the website of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA). The document states:
“The city has reached out to the leaders of religious communities with a request to limit the holding of mass Easter services and to maximize online broadcasts from places of worship on Ukrainian media and via the internet.”
Furthermore, the capital’s city hall emphasizes the increased risk of hostile attacks and urges religious communities to take safety measures during the festive services. In particular, it is necessary to inform worshippers about the actions to take in case of an air raid alert and to prepare information about the nearest shelters.
The KCSA also emphasized that there will be no change to the curfew time on Easter, which will remain in effect from midnight until five in the morning.
