Tender for the Major Overhaul of Kharkiv Highway
The municipal corporation “Kyivavtodor” has announced a tender for the major overhaul of the Kharkiv Highway, which runs through the Dnipro and Darnytsia districts of Kyiv. According to forecasts, the estimated cost of the work is 1,402.4 million UAH.
It is planned that the renovation will cover a section 5.4 km long. “Kyivavtodor” emphasizes that this highway was built back in 1967 and was last reconstructed in 1987. Currently, the road surface has undergone serious deformations: noticeable bumps and cracks in the asphalt.
“This indicates that the existing road structure cannot withstand modern loads. Such damage significantly complicates safe traffic along the highway and requires urgent repairs,” the representatives of “Kyivavtodor” are convinced.
What the Reconstruction Project Entails
The major overhaul project includes a comprehensive update of the roadway, sidewalks, stormwater drainage systems, street lighting, as well as underground pedestrian crossings.
Road workers also plan to install new traffic light systems to improve traffic organization. In places where possible, curbs will be lowered to the level of the roadway, and tactile navigation will be provided for visually impaired individuals. Additionally, elevators will be installed in the underground crossing near the Institute of High Molecular Compounds of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
