In the capital, law enforcement officers detained the organizer of a criminal group engaged in the illegal circulation of weapons and ammunition.

Uncovering the illegal arms sales network

Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department conducted a large-scale operation to expose a group of individuals who organized a channel for the sale of trophy and lost firearms during combat operations. The organizer of the illegal activity turned out to be a 43-year-old resident of Poltava region. The perpetrator has been detained and has already been notified of suspicion.

The investigation documented the sale of 12 units of automatic weapons and over a thousand rounds of ammunition. The total value of the seized items amounts to 820,000 hryvnias.

Large arsenal: results of the searches

With the support of the special unit KORD, and in cooperation with the police of Kyiv and Poltava regions, operatives and investigators conducted a series of searches in the residences of the individuals involved in the case and their vehicles in Kyiv, Poltava, and the Kyiv region.

As a result of the operational actions, law enforcement officers discovered a large cache of weapons. It contained 48 Kalashnikov rifles, 26 Makarov pistols, four machine guns, eight units of other rifled firearms, four grenade launchers with 31 rounds, eight mines, 76 grenades, nearly 26,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, fuses, detonators, about 21 kilograms of explosives, silencers, smoke grenades, bayonet knives, and loaded magazines.
