Kyiv Resident Faces Up to 5 Years in Prison for Online Distribution of Nazi Symbols

A 23-year-old woman in Kyiv faces up to five years of imprisonment for publicly using Nazi symbols online. According to law enforcement, the suspect took a photo with a flag displaying Nazi symbols while on vacation with friends, after which she posted these pictures on her personal social media page.

The indictment has been submitted to the court

Investigators from the Sviatoshynskyi Police Department, along with criminal analysis analysts and SBU employees, identified the individual who posted the prohibited materials. The woman has been charged under Part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for the production, distribution, and public use of symbols of totalitarian regimes. During the investigative actions, law enforcement also seized evidence confirming the suspect’s involvement in the crime.

The pre-trial investigation has been completed

The pre-trial investigation has now been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court for substantive consideration.

Investigators from the Sviatoshynskyi Police Department, together with criminal analysis analysts and SBU employees, identified and located the owner of the prohibited content and informed her of the charges under Part 1 of Article 436-1 (production, distribution, public use of symbols of communist or Nazi totalitarian regimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement also seized material evidence indicating the individual’s involvement in the commission of the criminal offense.
