The Petition for Crossings Gains Support
Kyiv residents have appealed to the city authorities, urging them to fund the installation of three ground-level pedestrian crossings on key streets surrounding Slava Square in 2025. The corresponding electronic petition has appeared on the official portal of the Kyiv City Council.
The authors of the initiative note that it is necessary to create ground-level crossings on Ivan Mazepa Street, Heroes of Kruty Street, and Lavrska Street. Additionally, the signatories emphasize the importance of establishing a crossing over M. Omelyanovych-Pavlenko Street on the section from Butyshiv Lane to the National Transport University building.
Accessibility for All Residents
Citizens stress that the installation of barrier-free ground-level crossings is the optimal way to ensure accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Such groups include individuals with disabilities, parents with strollers, elderly people, and anyone who requires comfortable conditions for moving around the city.
“Barrier-free ground-level crossings are the best and safest solution to ensure accessibility for people with reduced mobility — individuals with disabilities, parents with strollers, elderly people, and anyone who needs comfortable mobility in the city.”
Participants in the petition emphasize that the current underground crossings in the Slava Square area do not meet modern standards: they are not equipped with ramps, have outdated infrastructure, and create significant inconveniences for residents.
