In light of the current energy supply issues in Kyiv, the city’s inhabitants have suggested turning off external lighting and illuminated advertising during the night. The aim of this measure is to reduce electricity consumption, especially during the hours of least activity among the population.
Petition in Support of Energy Conservation
An official electronic petition containing this initiative has already been published on the Kyiv City Council’s website. Its authors are confident that this step will allow for significant savings in electricity without financial contributions from the city budget.
“During the curfew from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM, turn off street lighting and billboards in Kyiv to save electricity,” the authors of the initiative urged the responsible city officials.
Community Reaction and Implementation Prospects
The appeal is actively being discussed among the capital’s residents, who support the idea of optimizing electricity use amid energy instability. The proposal suggests its implementation from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM, which will not only contribute to savings but may also serve as an example of responsible management of shared resources.
