Details of the crime and the attempt to conceal evidence
According to the case materials, the tenant delivered a fatal blow to the owner’s head, resulting in the victim dying on the spot. To cover up the crime, the woman wrapped the body in a carpet, taped it up, and the next day sought help from two homeless individuals. She assured them that the carpet contained the body of a large dog that had allegedly died from bleeding and offered them 1000 hryvnias for their assistance.
“It has been established that the tenant delivered a fatal blow to the owner of the apartment due to a remark about the state of the apartment. The victim died on the spot from the injury. After the murder, the accused hid the body of the deceased in a carpet, which she taped up. The next day, the woman found two homeless individuals to whom she offered ‘work’ for 1000 hryvnias. She explained that there was a large dog in the carpet that had died from bleeding, and it needed to be taken out of the apartment,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
To transport the carpet, it was additionally wrapped in garbage bags and tied with a cable, after which it was taken to a dumpster. The next day, the contents of the dumpster were removed to a landfill, making the quick discovery of the body impossible.
Investigation and court ruling
Law enforcement officers, along with the prosecutor, searched the landfill for three weeks in an attempt to find the body of the deceased, but these efforts were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, a special agent called “BLUESTAR” was used in the apartment, which helped detect traces of blood that had been meticulously washed and destroyed.
During the court proceedings, the woman did not admit her guilt, offering numerous alternative versions of events, all of which were refuted by the prosecution. The court found the tenant guilty of intentional murder and sentenced her to 12 years and 6 months in prison.
