Where and How to Donate Russian Books
Residents of Kyiv are invited to bring books, magazines, newspapers, and other Russian-language products to the bookstore “Sens on Khreshchatyk,” located at Khreshchatyk, 34. Another collection point has been established at 25 Saperno-Slobidska Street. All collected paper will be sent for recycling to reduce the influence of Russian culture in the public space.
The Aim of the Initiative and Results of the Previous Collection
The campaign, organized by the bookstore “Sens on Khreshchatyk” and the public organization “Ukraine Without Waste,” will last until the end of October. Visitors are encouraged to actively participate in the initiative, helping to cleanse the cultural space of Russian-language publications.
“This initiative is a logical continuation of the value position of ‘Sens’ regarding consistent work with what is important to us: language, culture, and community. A bookshelf, like a cultural space, should be alive, open to change, and filled with Ukrainian instead of Russian,” commented the founder of the bookstore, Oleksiy Erinchak.
Last year, the bookstore conducted a similar collection, during which over 42 tons of Russian books worth 277,400 hryvnias were gathered in four months. The collected funds were directed towards the purchase of a mobile air defense system for the 101st Brigade.
