Key Meetings in Davos

On January 21, a meeting is scheduled in Davos between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with leaders from Italy, Germany, France, Canada, the United Kingdom, as well as with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The main topic of discussion will be security guarantees for Ukraine, particularly the possibility of deploying multinational forces after the cessation of hostilities, which has already been initiated by the United Kingdom and France.

U.S. Position and Decision Prospects

As emphasized by one European official involved in the consultations ahead of the forum, the implementation of the idea of an international contingent is impossible without U.S. consent.

“It is still unclear what Trump really thinks about this matter.”

This year’s forum in Davos will take place from January 19 to 23 and will gather around 400 world leaders. Among the participants are Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, Argentine President Javier Milei, and Colombian leader Gustavo Petro. Thus, discussions on Ukraine’s security issues and subsequent decisions by the G7 countries will become one of the central themes at this global platform.
