Lithuania Confirms Participation in Coalition to Support Ukraine

Очільник МЗС підтвердив участь Литви у «коаліції охочих» для підтримки України

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, announced during his visit to Kyiv that Lithuania is joining the “coalition of the willing” to provide support to Ukraine. He made this announcement at a joint briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha.

“We will be part of the efforts here – in Ukraine – to implement the tasks that will be defined. And this is a strong confirmation of our commitment to long-term support,” he noted.

Budrys emphasized that Russia remains the aggressor in the war against Ukraine and expressed confidence that Lithuania will “never” recognize the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia.

He also stressed that Russia continues to pose a direct military threat to NATO and Europe in the long term. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks dominance in the region and aims to subjugate Ukraine by any means necessary.

It is worth recalling that on March 27, a summit of leaders from 27 countries took place in Paris, where guarantees for Ukraine after a possible ceasefire were discussed, including the issue of the potential deployment of “coalition of the willing” forces on Ukrainian territory.

French President Emmanuel Macron also announced that a Franco-British military delegation will soon visit Ukraine. According to Macron, the delegation aims to determine the format of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in all areas – land, air, and sea, including the number of servicemen, necessary equipment, and structure.

Additionally, Macron noted that the Western contingents proposed by the “coalition of the willing” led by France and Britain will not be deployed on the front line but will perform security support functions in strategic points in peaceful zones.
