Restoration of the Overpass on Ronald Reagan Street
In the Desnyansky district of the capital, preparations are underway for a large-scale capital repair of the overpass over the rapid tram tracks on Ronald Reagan Street. The municipal corporation “Kyivavtodor” plans to invest 248.8 million hryvnias in this work.
Reasons for the Repair and Technical Condition of the Overpass
For the first time since its commissioning in 1999, the overpass requires comprehensive restoration. Experts conducted an inspection in 2023 and recorded a significant degree of wear and tear on the structures. Damage to the lower layers of the road surface, defects in the bridge deck and waterproofing, damage to expansion joints, the appearance of cracks, corrosion of reinforcement, and delamination of concrete were detected.

Main Stages of the Capital Repair
The project for the capital restoration includes a complete replacement of supports, span beams, bridge deck, as well as the laying of new layers of road surface with modern waterproofing. Additionally, new railing and barrier fencing will be installed, lighting supports will be replaced, communications will be modernized, and the adjacent area will be improved.
Particular attention will be paid to ensuring unobstructed access for persons with disabilities and other mobility-impaired groups. The curbs at the approaches to the overpass will be lowered, and tactile navigation will be installed. Furthermore, the access to the “Ronald Reagan” rapid tram station will be equipped with elevators, improving accessibility for all road users.
