The government of Ukraine is preparing a decision to establish a one-year moratorium on business inspections, as announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. According to her, this is intended to be one of the first initiatives of the newly appointed government to enhance freedom and support entrepreneurs.
First steps of the new government towards economic freedom
The Prime Minister noted that immediately after approval in the Verkhovna Rada, she held the first government meeting and a series of discussions with key ministers to set priorities. Among them is the introduction of a one-year moratorium on business inspections. Svyrydenko emphasized that the government is working in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and under the coordination of the National Security and Defense Council to finalize the relevant decision in the near future.
“The government, together with law enforcement agencies and under the coordination of the National Security and Defense Council, is preparing a decision that will give businesses more freedom. A one-year moratorium on inspections is planned. This issue has already been discussed with President Volodymyr Zelensky – his directive is clear: to provide more freedom to domestic economic forces. This also means continuing the de-shadowing of the economy and ensuring equal conditions that benefit legitimate businesses.”
Audit of criminal cases and new rules for regulatory authorities
In addition to the moratorium, the government has begun an audit of criminal proceedings against entrepreneurs. The priority is to close unfounded cases that restrict business operations. From now on, new criminal proceedings against entrepreneurs can only be sanctioned by the Attorney General or heads of regional and district levels. Such changes are expected to contribute to creating a favorable and transparent business climate in the country.
It is worth noting that on July 17, the Verkhovna Rada supported personnel changes in the government proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Yulia Svyrydenko was confirmed as the Prime Minister of Ukraine, while Denys Shmyhal took over the Ministry of Defense.
