A Man in Rusanivka Arrested for Setting an Electric Scooter on Fire While Drunk to Get His Neighbors’ Attention

In the Dnipro district of the capital, law enforcement officers arrested a 39-year-old resident of Kyiv who, while intoxicated, set an electric scooter on fire near the entrance in Rusanivka, trying to attract the attention of his neighbors and gain entry to the building.

Details of the Incident and the Offender’s Actions

The incident occurred on Enthusiasts Street. Law enforcement received reports of the electric scooter being set on fire. During the investigation, it was established that a local resident was involved in the arson. It turned out that the man had returned home but forgot his keys, which prevented him from entering the building. In an attempt to get the attention of his neighbors to open the door for him, he decided to set the nearby electric scooter on fire.

“Returning home, the man realized he had forgotten his keys, so he couldn’t get into the house. To make his neighbors notice him and open the door, the offender decided to ignite the electric scooter that was nearby. He took off his shirt, set it on fire, and placed it on the two-wheeled scooter, which immediately ignited,” the police reported.

Legal Consequences and Further Actions by the Police

The man was promptly arrested near the scene. Following the intentional destruction of someone else’s property by arson, investigators opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty for this article includes imprisonment for a term of three to ten years.
