The Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vihivskyi, announced that a “Russian trace” has been established in the case of the murder of the well-known Ukrainian politician Andriy Parubiy. However, he has not yet disclosed specific details indicating Russia’s involvement.

“We know: this crime is not accidental. There is a Russian trace in it. Everyone will be held accountable before the law,” wrote the high-ranking official.

Operational Investigation and Arrest of the Suspect

Ivan Vihivskyi noted the effective work of law enforcement officers, who were able to identify and arrest the suspect in the murder just 36 hours after the crime was committed. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko clarified that the arrest took place in the Khmelnytskyi region.

Circumstances of the High-Profile Crime

Andriy Parubiy, who served as a member of parliament, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from 2016 to 2019, and an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity, was killed in Lviv on August 30. According to a correspondent, the tragic incident occurred on Yefremova Street, near the politician’s home. Eight shell casings were found at the crime scene.

Witnesses reported that the attacker was dressed in a delivery service courier uniform and was riding an electric bicycle. Law enforcement agencies have mobilized all necessary forces and resources for the prompt resolution of this high-profile crime. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of a swift investigation and the apprehension of the criminal.
