Political Context and Donald Tusk’s Statement

Donald Tusk emphasized that Russia is actively trying to sow discord between Kyiv and Warsaw through provocations and information campaigns. According to the Prime Minister, the anti-Polish actions of certain Ukrainians and the incitement of anti-Ukrainian sentiments in Poland are part of a strategy orchestrated by foreign agents and local provocateurs.

“The culmination of the war in Ukraine is approaching, so Russia is doing everything to turn Kyiv against Warsaw. The anti-Polish gestures of Ukrainians and the incitement of anti-Ukrainian sentiments in Poland are part of Putin’s strategy, organized by foreign agents and local idiots. It’s always the same people,” Tusk wrote.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Poland has not yet commented on the situation regarding the possible expulsion of Ukrainian citizens.

Circumstances of the Incident at the Concert and Reaction from Polish Politicians

According to Polish radio, during the concert on August 9, a flag of the OUN-UPA was spotted in the crowd. This fact was highlighted by Dariusz Matecki, a deputy from the Law and Justice party, who stated his intention to file a complaint with the Warsaw district prosecutor’s office.

It is worth noting that negative sentiments towards the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army dominate Polish society, which associates them with the Volhynian tragedy of World War II. Ukrainian historians emphasize that these events were a shared tragedy for both nations, with both Poles and Ukrainians being victims.

During the concert, the Warsaw police detained 109 individuals for various offenses, including drug possession, violation of the security personnel’s integrity, use of pyrotechnics, and illegal entry to the event area.
