A public display of a flag with a swastika has been recorded in Pechersk

In Kyiv, the police have initiated a criminal proceeding regarding the use of Nazi symbolism in one of the central districts of the capital – Pechersk. Law enforcement officials reported that the incident became known through internet monitoring, where a video was published showing an unidentified man waving a flag with a swastika in the street.

Legal Qualification of the Incident

Information about this event has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to this article, it concerns the production and distribution of communist or Nazi symbols, as well as the propaganda of totalitarian regimes. The prescribed punishment is up to five years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Police Operational Actions

Currently, law enforcement officials are taking measures to identify the individual who displayed the prohibited symbolism and are working to hold them accountable under current legislation.

Efforts are ongoing to establish the identity of the offender and bring them to justice. It is worth reminding that the sanction of the article provides for up to five years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
