In Kyiv, police arrested a man who threatened to blow up a shopping and entertainment center in the Obolon district. Following a call to the emergency line 112, the information about a possible explosion prompted an immediate response from law enforcement.

Incident Details: How Law Enforcement Responded
An unknown individual called the emergency line and stated his intention to detonate one of the buildings in the capital. Special services promptly arrived at the scene and conducted a thorough inspection of the shopping mall and the surrounding area. The inspection revealed no dangerous or suspicious items.
“Recently, the Kyiv police received a report of a bomb threat at one of the shopping and entertainment centers in the Obolon district. During the conversation with the operator, the unknown individual informed about his intention to blow up the building,” the police reported.
Arrest of the Suspect and Legal Consequences
Officers from the criminal police in the Obolon district quickly identified the individual who made the fake report. It turned out to be a 38-year-old resident of the Kyiv region, who already has a criminal record. At the time of his arrest, the man was intoxicated and could not clearly explain his motives.
He has been charged under part 1 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – knowingly false reporting of a threat to the safety of citizens, destruction or damage to property. The penalty for this article provides for up to six years of imprisonment.
