A fatal road traffic accident occurred on the Hostomel Highway near Kyiv involving a former law enforcement officer who was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Details of the tragedy investigation
Investigators from the State Bureau of Investigations have completed the pre-trial investigation into the case of the former law enforcement officer from Kyiv region who caused the fatal crash. According to the investigation, the man, driving his own vehicle while intoxicated, crossed into oncoming traffic, where he collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine.
“As a result of the accident, the serviceman died at the scene.”
The case has been sent to court
The indictment against the suspect has now been submitted to the court for substantive consideration. The court will make a further decision regarding the measure of punishment.
