Details of the Incident and Progress of the Investigation
The puppies were found in a tied plastic bag left in the trash. One of the puppies died, while the other four survived. With the help of canine units and a service dog, the owner was identified, who, it turned out, had a dog showing signs of recent childbirth.
“Thanks to the canine units and the service dog, the owner of the puppies was located. He was found to have a dog with clear signs of postnatal condition. Therefore, the dog’s owner had no choice but to admit that he was the one who disposed of the puppies in the trash, believing they were dead.”
The Future of the Animals and Legal Consequences
The rescued puppies have been handed over to volunteers, who are now caring for their health and seeking new homes for them. Meanwhile, the Solomianskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the case of animal cruelty. The criminal case pertains to an incident that resulted in the death of one of the animals, with penalties ranging from 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.
