A case of rabies has been confirmed in a wild fox in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, leading to the implementation of quarantine restrictions.

Details of the Rabies Detection
The capital has recorded a case of rabies in a wild fox that was found in the Holosiivskyi district. Following a meeting of the State Emergency Anti-Epidemic Commission at the executive body of the Kyiv City Council, a decision was made to implement quarantine measures to prevent the spread of the infection.
“A meeting of the State Emergency Anti-Epidemic Commission at the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (KMDA) was held, chaired by the head of the Main Department of the State Consumer Service in Kyiv, Anatolii Katerynchuk. The meeting reviewed information regarding the confirmed case of rabies in a wild fox in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv,” the statement reads.
Safety Measures and Quarantine Zoning
Quarantine restrictions have been established in the area of the “Koncha Zaspa” recreation center (Stolychne Highway, 24) and within a 10 km radius around the site of the infection. The State Commission has also approved a comprehensive plan for the elimination of rabies in animals in the Holosiivskyi district.
Specialists from the State Consumer Service urge residents of Kyiv to strictly adhere to safety rules, including:
- not to come into contact with wild or stray animals;
- to vaccinate pets against rabies in a timely manner;
- to seek medical assistance immediately in case of a bite or scratch from an animal.
Following these recommendations will help minimize the risk of infection spread and protect the health of the capital’s residents.
