Petition for the Installation of Video Surveillance
Capital residents have appealed to the city authorities, urging them to equip all public transport stops and underground crossings with modern video surveillance cameras. The relevant petition was published on the official portal of the Kyiv City Council.
According to the authors of the initiative, the implementation of video surveillance will not only help increase passenger safety but also serve as an effective tool to prevent vandalism, theft, and other offenses in crowded places.
Advantages and Additional Proposals from Residents
Petition signatories are convinced that the installation of cameras will enable prompt responses from law enforcement and emergency services to any emergencies. In addition to enhancing safety, the recording and storage of video footage will allow for proper monitoring of the condition of the city’s stop infrastructure.
Furthermore, Kyiv residents propose ensuring the ability to retain recordings for at least 14 days.
The initiators emphasize that these measures will contribute to a reduction in crime in public places and increase comfort for residents and visitors to the city.
