The creative association of playwrights from the Kyiv city organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine invites everyone to the Modern Drama Festival, which will take place from April 25 to 27.

As part of the festival, nine public readings of comedies by young Ukrainian playwrights are planned. Among the featured plays are new works by authors such as Olha Matsyupa, Yulia Honchar, Andrii Bondarenko, Liudmyla Tymoshenko, Serhii Kulybyshev, Iryna Haretz, Tetiana Leonova, Stana Korunna, and Olena Shamrina.
The readings of these works will be presented by well-known directors, including Kristina Shyshkaryova, Olha Turutia, Ihor Matiiv, Davyd Petrosian, Olena Tkachuk, Mykhailo Urytskyi, Mykola Babyn, Nataliia Torzhevska, Stanislav Savchenko, as well as Olena Shamrina.
“What is comedy today – for whom and why?”
In addition to the readings, a roundtable discussion is also scheduled for April 26 at 1:00 PM. All events will take place at the Playwrights’ Theater in Podil (25h Petra Sahaydachnoho Street), which is a partner of this year’s festival. The organizer is the National Union of Theatre Workers of Ukraine, which has been supporting the development of Ukrainian theatrical art for many years.
