Support for Ukraine and Regional Cooperation

The Romanian presidential office emphasized that the country fully supports Ukraine not only in military and humanitarian areas but also in its pursuit of a just and sustainable peace. The participation of the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, the President of Serbia, as well as leaders from Greece, North Macedonia, and Croatia has also been confirmed for the summit.

“Romania reaffirms its full support for Ukraine, both in military and humanitarian terms, as well as in achieving a lasting and just peace.”

The “Ukraine – Southeast Europe” format was initiated in 2023 to enhance regional cooperation and respond to security challenges posed by the war of Russia against Ukraine. Last year, the summit took place in October in Croatia.

Trilateral Meeting and Relevance of the Summit

During his stay in Odesa, Nicușor Dan will also join a high-level trilateral meeting between Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine. The discussions will focus on energy, security, and European integration issues.

The summit is taking place against the backdrop of new massive missile strikes on Odesa by the Russian Federation, highlighting the relevance of uniting the efforts of regional states to strengthen stability and counter threats.

The President of Romania emphasized the importance of trilateral cooperation to ensure stability and progress in the region. Nicușor Dan began his duties as president on May 26, 2025, after winning the rerun of the presidential elections.
