Agent’s Mission and Preparation for Terrorist Attacks

Law enforcement officials established that a citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Kyiv, was recruited through one of the Telegram channels, where he was promised quick earnings. Initially, the occupiers tested the man’s loyalty by assigning him to set fire to equipment in the city. After that, the agent received instructions on how to make explosive devices and was tasked with blowing up the vehicles of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The plan involved planting homemade explosive devices under three vehicles of the defenders, which were to be detonated remotely by Russian special services along with the military. The terrorist carefully searched for the necessary vehicles to carry out the crime.

Arrest and Evidence of Terrorist Attack Preparations

SBU operatives documented the illegal activities of the agent and detained him in a specially rented apartment for concealment. During the arrest, the perpetrator attempted to set up remote access for Russian handlers to two mobile phones connected to the explosives for remote activation. Another device, according to the suspect’s plan, was to be installed near the site of the potential terrorist attack to capture the crime in real time.

It turned out that such a task was agreed to be carried out by an unemployed Kyiv resident, who was recruited by the aggressor through a Telegram channel searching for “easy money.”

The detained individual is currently in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation.
