During the arrest, the perpetrators offered armed resistance
The Security Service of Ukraine has eliminated a group of agents from the Russian special services involved in the recent murder of SBU Colonel Ivan Voronich in Kyiv. According to the investigation, the attack was organized by two individuals – a man and a woman – who had arrived in Ukraine in advance with the intent to commit the crime.
Details of the Special Operation and Investigation Progress
The head of the SBU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, personally led the operation to arrest the suspects. Investigators established that a curator from Russia instructed the perpetrators to monitor the colonel, determine his daily routine and routes. After that, they were provided with the coordinates of a stash containing a weapon – a pistol with a silencer, which was later used to commit the murder.
After the crime, the agents attempted to evade responsibility by hiding in the Kyiv region. However, thanks to the joint efforts of the SBU and the National Police of Ukraine, their location was quickly established.
Armed Resistance and Operation Outcomes
“As a result of conducting covert searches and active counterintelligence measures, the hostile den was discovered. During the arrest, they began to resist, there was gunfire contact, so the scoundrels were eliminated. I want to remind you that the only prospect for the enemy on the territory of Ukraine is death!” – noted Vasyl Maliuk.
The head of the SBU also expressed gratitude to the employees of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department for their professionalism and support during the special operation.
