Colonel of Police Serhiy Naumenko, who has many years of service experience and participation in combat operations, has been appointed the new Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.

Experience and Achievements of Serhiy Naumenko
Serhiy Naumenko is known as the commander of the aerial reconnaissance unit, which was established in the early days of the full-scale invasion of Russia. His unit played a key role in detecting the enemy on the approaches to Kyiv, which helped organize an effective defense of the capital. During the fighting in Rubizhne, Naumenko was injured during an artillery shelling, but he continued to perform his duties. The officer also participated in battles in Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Izyum, Balakliia, Kupiansk, Vuhledar, Marinka, and Bakhmut.
“His aerial reconnaissance team, formed in the early days of the full-scale war, helped timely detect the enemy on the approaches to Kyiv and contributed to the successful defense of the capital. Despite being injured during the shelling in Rubizhne, Serhiy Naumenko continued to carry out his tasks. He participated in battles in Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Izyum, Balakliia, Kupiansk, Vuhledar, Marinka, and Bakhmut,” Klymenko reported.
Responsibilities and Areas of Work for the New Deputy Minister
Following his appointment, Serhiy Naumenko will be responsible for key areas of activity within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Among them:
- Formulating and implementing state policy in the area of border protection and safeguarding Ukraine’s sovereign rights in the exclusive maritime economic zone.
- Coordinating the implementation of the minister’s powers in military-political and administrative leadership of the National Guard of Ukraine.
- Functioning and development of a unified system of aviation safety and civil protection in the activities of the National Police, State Border Guard Service, State Emergency Service, and National Guard.
In addition, Naumenko will focus on improving legislation within his authority, organizing the work of aviation and drone units, enhancing the training of flight personnel, and coordinating the activities of aviation enterprises under the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ website, there are currently six deputies working under the Minister of Internal Affairs, one of whom is Serhiy Naumenko. He has held the position since September 1, and prior to this, starting from May 2023, he headed the Department of Aviation Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Last month, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, announced plans to reform the Office to involve servicemen with confirmed combat experience or veterans in its work.
