Discussion on Security and Energy Independence

During the meeting, Zelensky informed the Slovak Prime Minister about the results of his conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump that took place the day before, as well as about the activities of the “Coalition of Willing” aimed at strengthening the security system for Ukraine and all of Europe. According to the president, Slovakia will not remain indifferent to these processes.

The parties also discussed the details of Prime Minister Fico’s visit to China, where he met, among others, with the President of the Russian Federation. Special attention was given to issues of energy independence in the European region.

Support for Ukraine’s European Integration

“There is no future for Russian oil, just as there is none for Russian gas. Slovakia supports Ukraine in its movement towards the European Union. This is very significant. We equally see that Ukraine and Moldova must continue to move together towards EU membership. It is also important that bilateral cooperation in economic, energy, and infrastructure matters here in our region strengthens our peoples and our countries,” Zelensky stated.

The President of Ukraine thanked the Slovak Prime Minister for the meeting and emphasized the intention to continue constructive dialogue between the states.

It is known that Prime Minister Fico participated in a military parade in Beijing on September 3 and also met with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to China. After returning to Europe, Fico plans to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky in Uzhhorod.
