The Central Election Commission announced Tetiana Chornovol as the newly elected Member of Parliament of Ukraine. This decision was made after receiving official confirmation from the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada regarding the early termination of Andriy Parubiy’s powers.

Circumstances of Tetiana Chornovol’s Appointment
After reviewing the relevant documents, the CEC recognized Chornovol, who was next in line on the electoral list of the “European Solidarity” party at number 27, as the elected Member of Parliament of Ukraine in this election. Andriy Parubiy was elected to parliament in the snap elections on July 21, 2019, on the list of the same political force in the nationwide multi-mandate constituency.
The Murder of Andriy Parubiy and the Investigation
On August 30, Andriy Parubiy was shot dead in Lviv. He was known as a participant in the Revolution of Dignity, a politician, a Member of Parliament, and the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada from 2016 to 2019. On September 1, law enforcement detained a 52-year-old resident of Lviv, Mykhailo Stselnikov, who is suspected of committing the crime. The next day, the court chose a preventive measure for him — detention for 60 days without the right to bail.
Stselnikov admitted guilt in the murder. He cited “personal revenge against the Ukrainian authorities” as the motive for his actions. At the same time, the suspect stated that information in the media about him being blackmailed by Russian special services is not true, and he did not cooperate with them.
It is known that Tetiana Chornovol is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
