The Championship in Memory of Ukraine’s Defenders in Kyiv

A large-scale sporting event is planned in the capital of Ukraine — the “Open Championship of Kyiv City in Hand-to-Hand Combat,” which will be dedicated to the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine. This event will take place at the sports arena of the VSP “OFK named after Ivan Piddubny NUFVSU” on May 24 and will gather over 400 athletes from various regions of the country.

According to the Kyiv City Council, the competitions will be held in three age and sports categories: adults, juniors, and youth groups. Within the framework of the championship, athletes will compete in three disciplines: “Controlled Contact,” “Light Contact,” and “Technique Demonstration.”

Features and Purpose of the Event

According to the organizers, the main goal of the event is to honor the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine and to promote hand-to-hand combat among the youth. It is noted that the event takes place as part of supporting physical training and patriotic education for the younger generation.

“This is not just a sporting event, but also a symbol of memory and gratitude to our defenders,” emphasized the Kyiv City Council.

It is expected that athletes from various regions of Ukraine will participate in the competitions, which will add special status to the event and make it significant for the sports community and the public.
