The Church of the Savior at Berestovo Reopens Its Doors to Visitors

The Church of the Savior at Berestovo, a unique architectural monument included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, invites visitors once again after winter conservation. This temple, in addition to its majestic architecture, also conceals many historical mysteries, which are narrated by the National Reserve of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Tour of this Unique Landmark

Once a year, on April 4th, visitors will have the opportunity to join the exclusive tour “What the Walls of the Savior at Berestovo Speak Of,” led by the leading archaeologists and art historians of the Reserve. During the tour, participants will learn about the fascinating discoveries made beneath the temple’s walls, including the secrets of 12th-century frescoes that remained hidden for over 700 years. Participants will also discover what materials were used to build churches during the times of Ukraine-Rus, whose memory the temple preserves, and why these burials raise so many questions among scholars.

Location and Event Details

The tour will take place at the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” located at: Church of the Savior at Berestovo, Lavrska St., 5. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM. Registration is required to participate via the link.
