A memorial to Hetman Mazepa is planned to be installed at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra

A group of Ukrainian artists and representatives of the creative intelligentsia has appealed to the President of Ukraine to support the establishment of a memorial in honor of the prominent Hetman Ivan Mazepa at the National Reserve “Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.”
Public Initiative of the Intelligentsia
Renowned sculptor Oles Sydoruk published a copy of the official appeal on his social media page. The authors of the letter emphasize that there is currently no monument on the territory of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra commemorating Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
Broad Support for the Initiative
According to Oles Sydoruk, the initiative to establish a memorial has already received support from many servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine.
“Given the above, Sydoruk noted that the initiative of the authors of the appeal to the Head of State has already been supported by a significant number of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine.”
Participants in the initiative believe that the establishment of a memorial to Ivan Mazepa will be an important step in restoring historical justice and honoring a prominent figure in Ukrainian history.
