Reactions from the International Community and Escalation of Conflict

Kallas reported that she is in contact with partners, especially those countries that are directly affected by Iran’s military actions. She emphasized the need for a joint search for practical solutions to reduce tension in the region. However, the diplomat did not specify which countries she was referring to.

“What happens next is unknown. But now there is a path open to a different Iran, which its people will have greater freedom to shape. I am in contact with partners, particularly those in the region who bear the main burden of Iran’s military actions, to find practical steps for de-escalation.”

Recent Events in Iran and the Region

On February 28, Israeli military forces launched a missile strike on Iranian territory. Following this, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of large-scale military operations against Iran, stating that the goal is to “protect the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”

According to Iranian media, explosions were heard in several cities, including Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, Qom, Lorestan, and Chabahar. In the capital, the strikes were aimed at representatives of the highest leadership of the country.

Israel and the U.S. reported the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a result of these attacks. On March 1, the Iranian side officially confirmed the death of the Supreme Leader and announced the formation of a temporary leadership council, which includes the country’s president, the head of the judiciary, and a jurist from the Guardian Council. On the same day, mutual attacks continued between Israel and Iran.
