Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation on December 4 with the President of the European Council, António Costa. The discussion focused on cooperation with international partners and the further development of negotiation processes regarding the conclusion of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Coordination with Partners and Plans for Negotiations
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that in the near future, the Ukrainian delegation will hold meetings with representatives of the United States. The key goal of these negotiations is to achieve a sustainable and just peace for Ukraine. According to the president, the parties agreed to continue coordinating their actions in this direction.
“The Ukrainian team has meetings planned with the American side. We expect to work as substantively as possible to end this war with a reliable and dignified peace. We agreed to continue coordinating,” Zelensky stated.
Preparation for the European Council Meeting
António Costa reported on a constructive phone conversation with Zelensky, during which the parties discussed current political events and preparations for the upcoming European Council summit. According to Costa, in the coming days he will focus his efforts on organizing the European Council meeting, where a strategic decision is planned regarding the provision of funding for Ukraine in 2026-2027.
The President of the European Council emphasized that the European Union remains firmly committed to continuing support for Ukraine in various areas. The European Council meeting, which will address funding issues, is scheduled for December 18-19, 2025.
