In addition to imprisonment, the court prohibited Nasirov from holding any positions in state authorities, local self-government, as well as in state and municipal enterprises, institutions, and organizations related to the performance of administrative or regulatory functions for three years. The former head of the SFS was taken into custody immediately in the courtroom. In his final statement, Nasirov emphasized that he believes the case against him is politically motivated.

In his final statement, he specifically claimed that the case against him has a political nature.

The essence of the charges and the consequences of Nasirov’s decisions

The charges were based on the fact that Roman Nasirov, in 2015-2016, acting in the interests of a member of the Ukrainian parliament of the VIII convocation, personally approved a series of “unjustified and illegal decisions” regarding the deferral of tax debts and obligations of three companies: LLC “Firm ‘Has'”, LLC “Carpathian Subsoil Investment”, LLC “Subsoil GeoCenter”. The investigation established that these decisions were made without proper justification and legal grounds, resulting in the state budget losing over 2 billion hryvnias. Nasirov and his defense deny all the charges.

The court also considered the case against the former head of the State Fiscal Service department, who was acquitted due to insufficient evidence of guilt. The verdict against Nasirov will come into effect 30 days after its announcement, unless it is appealed in court.
