The High Anti-Corruption Court has issued a verdict against MP Lyudmyla Marchenko from the “Servant of the People” party and her assistant Anastasia Kolesnyk. Both were found guilty in a case involving the receipt of illegal benefits amounting to over $11,000 for facilitating illegal border crossings.

Scheme for Receiving Illegal Benefits
The investigation established that Marchenko, along with her assistant, organized the payment of a bribe for entering information about two male volunteers of conscription age into the “Shlyakh” system. This was intended to allow them to leave the territory of Ukraine outside the established wartime restrictions. For these “services,” the accused received over $11,000.
“For the bribe, the defendants promised to enter two male volunteers of conscription age into the ‘Shlyakh’ system for further departure abroad.”
Sentencing for the Accused
By the court’s verdict, Lyudmyla Marchenko was sentenced to two years of imprisonment. Additionally, she is prohibited from holding positions in state authorities and local self-government for three years. Her assistant, Anastasia Kolesnyk, received the same main punishment of two years in prison. For her, the additional restriction involves a three-year ban on working in organizations that deal with the issuance of permits for crossing the state border.
Thus, the decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court serves as another example of combating corruption among representatives of power and their entourages.
